Copper Cove Coastal Walk

Copper Cove is a coastal walk between Badgers Head and Narawntapu National Park at Port Sorell. The one way four hour walk, called the Coastal Traverse, can be started at either end. We drove to Badgers Head and started our walk from here.

The walk starts off very steep climbing to the top of the coastal track quite quickly. The views are stunning very early on looking back towards Greens Beach.

Once hitting the top of the track we headed west following the coastline. The track was not very wide but was easy to walk on. There were many native plants along the walk and could see the impact of the wind keeping the plant life very short and scrub like. We found one plant that looked like a shaggy dog.

Heading around the coastline, listening to the bird life in the trees, the far distance comes into view. We could see the coastline of Port Sorell and Devonport and the mountainous horizon of Penguin picking out Mount Montgomery and Mount Gnomon. The water below the cliff line looks like a great spot for spearfishing.

After winding our way down the hill we arrive at Copper Cove and find a cosy corner to have lunch. The sun was shining and reflecting off the water making for the perfect lunch destination.

After lunch and our exploration of Copper Cove we headed back along the track to return. Copper Cove was full of rich vibrant copper colours scattered throughout the rocks and reflecting from the water.

I would love to walk in from the other end starting at Narawntapu National Park and exploring the other end of Copper Cove.

This was an easy walk covering just over 10kms. It was a lovely day out exploring the Tasmanian coastline.
