Bakers Beach to Copper Cove

‘I like this place and could willingly waste my time in it!’ (William Shakespeare). Was so good to waste the day away exploring this place.

We walked from Bakers Beach down to the East end of the beach for the first part of our walk. It was a lengthy walk along the beach but was simply beautiful looking out to the calm ocean reflecting the sunshine.

The east end of the beach begins the rocky journey around to Copper Cove. My partner took his fishing rod along and threw in a line or two and hooked himself two flathead.

The rocky ground lead the way around the coastline as I took each step ever so cautiously. Step by step Copper Cove got closer. Along the journey there seem to be a lot of lizards scrambling under rocks. We passed a couple of caves along the way and decided we would have a closer inspection on the way back.

We finally made it to Copper Cove West end. We have done this walk in 2021 from Badgers Head and you can read about it here. We hadn’t explored this end of the cove. We sat and had a picnic lunch admiring the gorgeous view.

Upon our return, I decided to go up over the headland at the west end of Copper Cove rather than around the headland. At the top of this headland I discovered a seat and campground with an amazing view.

The caves, tucked away in under the landscape, housed nests for swallows. They weren’t overly big but had a lovely outlook from within the cave.

A few more hundred rocks to step over and eventually we made it back to Bakers Beach for the long stretch home.

The beach seem to go on for ever. We did finally make it back to the car. The walk was a bit over 11kms. I enjoyed willingly wasting my time exploring the Tassie landscape today. So nice to be back out in nature.
